A little about my history of rover ownership
In about 1973 I purchased a 1957 Short Wheel Base LandRover, and my Rover love affair began ;-)
I got a job working for a guy name Rex who had a Landrover wrecking yard in South Terrace in Adelde,
He taught me heaps about Landrovers and I began a rebuild project on my SWB.
Amongst the things I did were
- Fitted series II diffs which were about 50mm wider and had fully floating axles, which were a big advancement over the semi floating series I axles
- Sunrasia wheels with chunk tyres
- Leyland Terrier Truck 3.5 L V8. Essentially a detuned Rover V8 which ran on standard. I bought it brand new from Leyland for I think around 300
- Woodgrain dash with big Jag speedo with brass surround and various other gauges
- Pioneer Sound system
- Storage in the wheel arches
- New Bucket style seats using Pirelli Webbing
- Sleeping Platform
- and more
We travelled to the Flinders Ranges and Lake Eyre, York Peninsula and many other places in that much loved Landie ;-)
Under construction ;-)
